Naviance User Groups and Mentoring

Funded by Federal College Access and Challenge Grant awarded to the Minnesota Office of Higher Education - renewed to 2014

At User Groups events, school counselors meet as colleagues to share experiences, ideas and advice on optimizing use of the Naviance software to support and communicate with students and parents. Open to all Minnesota Naviance users, both new and experienced. Most User Groups include presentation sessions, with a majority of the time dedicated to “hands-on” time in computer lab with mentors to assist. For events that are part of a MACAC event, we offer Naviance sessions and optional User Group Computer Lab time that requires a separate registration.  Bring a laptop if you wish; lab computers also provided. Travel expenses and event registration fees reimbursed after the event, according to event guidelines. Questions: mhill@spa.edu

The Minnesota Naviance Mentor Program (MNMP) enables middle school and high school counselors to consult one-on-one with colleagues from around the state to share their experience and tips using Naviance. We prioritize support for counselors in schools that received Naviance through the CACG Grant, but all Minnesota school-based Naviance users are eligible to participate in the mentor program. For mentor information contact Uyenthi.Tran@state.mn.us or Sarah.Hogan@providenceacademy.org

Expense Reimbursements for attendees currently using Naviance in a school setting

New in 2010-11 for User Groups held during a MACAC Event:  In addition to Naviance sessions during the MACAC event, we will offer User Group computer lab time – requiring a separate online registration.  If you only want to attend the event sessions, just register for the MACAC event. If you want to add time in the computer lab (with a mentor) either before or after the event, a second online form is required. See event listings above for details.   The MACAC event registration fee must be pre-paid by the attendee and may be reimbursed afterwards according to guidelines for that event.

To obtain expense reimbursement, participants must attend at least one of the Naviance sessions or spend time in the User Group computer lab.

Travel expenses will be reimbursed using an expense form provided at the conclusion of the event. Mileage will be reimbursed at $.50/mile.
