National College Fair Committee

    The goal of the MACAC National College Fair Committee is to coordinate the various activities that take place in advance of or at the National College Fair. Due to the nature of these responsibilities, the National College Fair Chairperson must work closely with the NACAC Executive Director of National College Fairs and the key and subcommittee coordinators. In addition, the committee is charged with involving volunteers from MnACC, the secondary and diverse postsecondary areas.

    The National College Fair Committee Chairperson shall:

    • Serve as a direct link with the national office
    • Call, convene and lead planning meetings
    • Recruit and appoint leaders to sub-committees
    • Compile and update working manual on MN National College Fair

    The Individual and Financial Aid Counseling sub-committee shall:

    • Develop a comprehensive plan for individual and financial aid counseling for the fair
    • Recruit and schedule volunteer counselors
    • Design and develop information sessions on financial aid and other appropriate topics for students, parents and counselors
    • Design and manage the counseling area during the fair (i.e., counseling materials, hospitality for volunteers and equipment needed)

    The Publicity/Promotion sub-committee shall:

    • Develop and implement a comprehensive publicity and promotions plan for the fair
    • Implement print and media advertising placement
    • Handle communications with community colleges and local schools
    • Recruit postsecondary institutions to attend the fair
    • Organize and develop non-traditional programs
    • Maintain the fair hotline number

    The On-site Services sub-committee shall:

    • Develop and implement a comprehensive on-site services plan for the fair
    • Develop and implement security for the fair
    • Staff and manage information booth for the fair
    • Coordinate hospitality issues
    • Coordinate space needs for the fair
    • Coordinate transportation and traffic needs for the fair
    • The co-chairs will hold their positions for a three-year appointment.
