National College Fair Local Planning Committee

The goal of the MACAC National College Fair Committee is to coordinate the various activities that take place in advance of or at the National College Fair. Due to the nature of these responsibilities, the National College Fair Committee must work closely with the NACAC Executive Director of National College Fairs.

The National College Fair Committee Chairperson shall:

  • Call, convene and lead planning meetings
  • Recruit members to the local planning committee
  • Compile and update a working manual for the National College Fair Committee Chairs
  • Tri-Chairs shall hold their position for three years


The National College Fair committee shall:

  • Recruit and schedule fair volunteers
  • Coordinate the workshops available to students and families
  • Collaborate with local Financial Aid professionals about resources for Financial Aid workshops and presence in the counseling center
  • Manage volunteers and layout at the counseling center
  • Staff the information booth
  • Assist with hospitality and welcome information for exhibitors
  • Welcome students and help with onsite student registration 
  • Recruit local sponsors and connect them with the national office
  • Research and develop local marketing opportunities
  • Handle communications with local high schools
  • Promote the Transportation Grant and select recipients 
  • Work with the national representative to handle event questions and concerns


Committee Time Commitment

  • Take part in committee meetings that take place quarterly. Committee members can join the meeting physically or call-in via Webex. 
  • Assist with event set-up the day prior to the fair 
  • Volunteer during the two days of the fair (volunteer opportunities are available for those who are not available during the open hours of the fair)
  • Take part in any ad hoc meetings as requested and available
